And now KPN will be bought (in due time) by AT&T

I have worked for Pink Elephant, that was bought by Roccade making PinkRoccade and worked for AT&T. I have worked for Unisource that was insourced in KPN. I have worked for PinkRoccade (again) that was bought by Getronics (the worst thing that could happen, but that is another story). And Getronics-PinkRoccade was recently bought by KPN, as I predicted. And now KPN will be bought by ...

...AT&T!

Speculation of a takeover bid for Royal KPN NV from AT&T Inc have been quickly dismissed, and although the Dutch telecoms operator will remain at the heart of takeover talk for the time being, an offer for the company is not expected in the short-term, analysts said.

...or maybe not.

But is weird to see, so many employers and it all comes together. See my linkedin profile for details and My Life in Business Cards. I think I will go to a company that will not be bought by AT&T but will buy the big T!

Magnatune's podcasts are great, not evil at all

Via the Twit network I found out about a great serie of Podcasts over at Magnatune. They are free (as in beer), DRM free, advertisement free and well categorized. Sure worth listening to it on your iPod.

Talking about iPods, yesterday I bought the new fat Nano, my second iPod and .. my first Mac; an iMac! I ordered them online and hope to have them in a week or so. In even more unrelated news, Apple is worth more then IBM!

Hoewel, supsect was nogal 1.0.

Smoking killed the clueful webmaster of malboro.com

Today's example comes straight from malboro.com and is best experienced with FireFox. Go ahead. Click it. I'll wait.

Baaah! This webmaster wasnt smoking Malboro when (s)he did the rewrite. IE only in 2006 where there are other ways of doing redirects for nearly 10 years. Sad to see how such a big company has such a small vision.

Google Modules on "Personalised Homepage"

Google Modules. Lots of them. I recently started using the Personal Homepage of Google. And with Google opening up the way to add new modules, lots of fun stuff is hapening right now. See the google modules page for 100's of new "widgets".

In this light is is fun to read a good article of an Amazon.com employee on Google's magnet power for talent.
Mom goes Linux?

Ballmer:We 'll help you run Linux ... if we must

Despite his fondness for Windows, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer says the company will make it easier for businesses to manage a wide variety of machines including those running Linux.

Ballmer said on Wednesday that Microsoft has listened to customers who've demanded better support for non-Windows machines in Operations Manager software, Microsoft's key management product. The company will also, he said, step up support for running Linux-based virtual machines in a service pack update to its Virtual Server product later this year.

... Instead, Microsoft has grown lazy, complacent, and fat--arguably another IBM, a company Microsoft never intended to emulate. And rather than exit markets when Microsoft jumps in, the company's competitors are now watching Microsoft to see where it's heading, then jumping in with both feet. More often than not, Microsoft's tiny competitors get to market first and reap the rewards.

In the three years since the Sept. 11 attacks, Wall Street firms have gradually shifted key parts of their IT infrastructure out of New York, moving backup data hundreds of miles away and building a dedicated IP-based extranet to prevent future terrorist attacks from disrupting the financial markets.

Ooooh, If only //SCO had put options to buy. This because I knew for sure that //this was going to happen and I would have been able and willing to put some real money on puts on these loosers.

And the //winner is...?
