PHP-Nuke in violation with GPL? - I'm not a lawyer but the fact PHP-Nuke is, as of recently, available under a commercial license strikes me as a bit peculiar. Yep, for $250.00 a year you are allowed to remove the copyright notices from your PHP-Nuke driven website.
While that might be allowed according to copyright law, the addition of the extra copyright notice itself has been frowned upon by the folks on the "Debian legal" mailing list. More specifically, they said; the copyright holders of PHP-Nuke are compelling us as licensees to impose a "further restriction" on the exercise by users of this Debian package of their rights under the GNU GPL. This is not permitted by GPL clause 6, and therefore the Debian Project "may not distribute the Program at all." (GPL clause 7). [drop.org]
