nu.nl/economie | PCM neemt radiostations over

PCM gaat de radiostations Arrow Classic Rock en Arrow Jazz FM overnemen. Het concern, onder meer uitgever van de Volkskrant, Trouw en NRC Handelsblad, heeft een principeovereenkomst bereikt met de huidige eigenaren van de radiostations Ad Ossendrijver en Willem van Kooten.

Geweldig nieuws voor PcM die een breder nieuw publiek aanboord maar ook crossmedia kan acteren. Streaming audio anyone? :-)

NB: mijn bedrijfsonderdeel doet het beheer van de title sites van PcM zoals nrc.nl en volkskrant.nl.

My MythTV install went very well, I'll update the handbook later to reflect my progress, but sofar, I am at "80%" of where I want to be.

Linux is installed (took most of the time, I am afraid that I have some bad ram!, will investigate later), MySQL is installed, MythTV is installed, new videodrivers work, sounds works, Haupauge cards are working, I can cat /dev/video0 and 1, MySQl is running, importing of whats on telly is working. And then I fired up the MythTV frontend. It works!

I can watch a channel (testchannel, I cant zap channels yet), I can record it, skip time, hear sound, import weather feed, import RSS feeds and it's working great. Despite the fact that the videocard only does 800x600, the application looks great. Stuff I have to do;

• check to see if I have bad RAM
• Get RC working
• Make sure it all runs in a non root environment
• Make sure the OS gets and stays secure, harden Fedora
• configure MythTV... and there is a lot to configure...

Sofar, apart from installing, it took me 4 hours, far less than I planed. But you know the 80/20 rule :-)

BTW: for anyone installing MythTV, choose Fedora Core and read this, it is not dummy proof yet but a very good howto.

Stop talking about streaming, start using Dijjer, Dijjer is free P2P software that dramatically reduces the bandwidth needed to host large files. See also this slashdot posting with comments.

Gaat willy dan echt hip worden? Een podcast? Nee, 't zijn "slechts" de woorden van mijn dochter (ze kan ook: en een magnetron zegt "pling" :-) ). Maar wel de liefste woorden ter wereld. Ze kan nu zo'n 50 woorden zeggen en verstaat ongeveer alles. Love of my life, morgen valentine...

Podcastinfo Nederland » Gaat Talpa ook Videocasten ?

De televisiezender Talpa gaat waarschijnlijk een aantal programma’s op ipod videoformaat (320×240) uit brengen. Zoals wellicht bekend kun je Talpa programma’s nu al via het internet streaming bekijken. Het zou wel leuk zijn om bijvoorbeeld Koppensnellers mee te nemen op de ipodvideo. Leuk deze initiatieven. Afwachten of andere Tv zenders Talpa hierin gaan volgen.
