Bad dog, 38.144.36.16


(root@kjell httpd)# grep 38.144.36.16 access_log* | wc -l

   6524

This is a bad dog, within 3 days requested 6.5 k pages, very often the same page just a couple of seconds later.

The useragent (s)he/it is using is 

 (compatible; MSIE 5.12; Mac_PowerPC)

Either way, (s)he cant read this posting anymore:

iptables -I INPUT -s 38.144.36.16 -j DROP

Could find much about this online, but via dejagoolegroups I found that it seems to be a very stupid aggresive bot. Something like the main computer in i robot

He's back, using IP address 38.144.36.19.... If you run a site, take a minute and check your stats or your logs for addresses beginning with 38.144.36.. If you see abuse like I've seen, take a minute and ban them.

Well it has been 3 days since the ban and one very snotty email to them and yet still no response. These muppets are 10 minutes away from an official complaint to law enforcement, for copyright thief and hacking offences....
