Gratis iPhone? Sure! Als je een PHP nerd kent die wil werken bij de grootste Open Source software implementator (en de leukste!) in Nederland, geef hem dan aan om te gaan solliciteren bij Dutch Open Projects en krijg gratis een iPhone.

Moet de nerd(in) wel aangenomen worden en door zijn proeftijd komen, maar dat is voor een echte PHP freak die graag met Symfony en/of Drupal werkt geen probleem. Grote klanten, mooie vila, leuke collega's en dito werk.

Kom maar op, de iPhone staat klaar voor je, kom maar op!

Ulitzer.com in Drupal (in 2008)

A bit old news but I have some backlog in mail, bookmarks, word, upgrades, visiting friends and even sleep.
Web 2.0 Journal is writing about Ulitzer choosing Drupal as their CMS:

Ulitzer.com, which will be launched in 2008, with 5,500 authors and more than 550,000 original articles, is looking for enterprise software architect(s), programmer(s), and Web app developer(s). The site will offer original content in more than 2,000 topics ranging from AJAX to Zebra.

If ulitzer.com would start in 208 and would use Drupal, I think it will be the largest Drupal ist in number of nodes out there:

At least, I dont know of any site with half a millions "nodes". Drupal.org is nearly half way there, do you know a site with more nodes? If so, drop a comment (will be moderated and publish within 8 hours).

Who will qualify working for them:

Are you the person who wrote most of the Facebook or MySpace code?
Were you the main architect who converted Yahoo! code from a proprietary system to PHP?
Is your Google badge number smaller than 100?
Have you delivered a large-scale CMS on Drupal, Django or another popular open source platform?
Do you agree that CMS would be more appropriately defined as "Community Management System"?

No, I am not Ulitzer material. But at least I have one of the points right:

Yet another Drupal Job, $3000-$5000 2 Month Contract at Drupal.org

Amaranth Games is looking for a developer who has experience with Drupal to help build an interactive game website. The goal of this project will be to add a gold system to Drupal, modify the default Drupal Forum, and modify one of the Gallery addons.

The site really needs a makeover. Mhh, 5K USD max for 300 hours. The hour fee is around 15 USD per hour with isnt too good but the contract is for 2 month so that would be nice. Any takers?

I need a developer to put together, on a Drupal platform, a next generation community and content site. I intend to use the technical platform developed as the base for a series of similar sites in specific vertical niches. The initial site will be a place for sailboat sailors to find news, community and other resources.

Over at INTERNETinc. the are looking for a "webmaster" (define webmaster?): "We're searching for world-class webmaster talent!" From what I read on the contestguide page, it isnt really rocket science they are looking for. I mean, filling a taxonomy structure surely isnt enough to win $500?

To me this isnt clear, everything of their functional requirements list can be done with a vanilla Drupal install, yet they are judging on "programming skills demonstrated".

Should you decide to accept our challenge, your task will be to create an expert-community website using the open-source Drupal CMS for the domain InternetInc.com. Through this contest, we expect to find one or more contractors to employ on a long-term basis.

I dont get it, do they want a nice (theme) looking site? Or do they think there are extra modules needed for the "reguirements list"? Either way, I learned that http://labs.divx.com/ is a Drupal site as well. And blogher.org, a female blog list site, has been migrated to Drupal as well.

With more and more companies loking for Drupal coders, the demand side is way bigger then the supply side. It shows however that Drupal is gaining ground! Not too bad.
