Tri iPhone pong

What do you get when three nerds meet together? Or how many nerds does it take to play pong?

Jumbo.nl on Drupal

Via a direct message on twitter, I got the news that jumbo.nl switched to a new site today using ... Drupal. Jumbo might not be a world famous brand, but it is a very old (board) game manufacturer, founded in 1853 in the Netherlands. It is a nice looking site, colorful, a bit 2.0-ish but with a stylefull more timeless look. It is not finished content wise yet I think, there are some missing pages. And while using heavily the i18n possibilities of Drupal, it is still based on D5, not on D6, see their changelog. I fully understand the D5 choice, I think that it will take more then 1/2 a year before corporate sites will be build on D6.

Since this year I make money selling and building Drupal sites and the good news is that Drupal is gaining ground very very fast in the Netherlands. And a site like jumbo.nl really helps to sell it to other corporate prospects.

Call of Duty 4 for mac!

As a new Mac zealot and long time fan of the Call of Duty series, it is for me great news that Aspyr will be bringing COD4 to the mac! See (after age verification?) the news:

Aspyr Media, Inc. announced today they will publish Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for Mac, a gripping modern-day action-thriller that deploys players into heart-stopping battles across the world’s most treacherous hotspots. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare delivers unprecedented high-definition graphics, piercing 5.1 surround sound and a dynamic community-oriented multiplayer experience. Developed by Infinity Ward and licensed by Activision, the game is expected to be available for Mac in May 2008.

I just have to wait a couple of more months and watch lots of video:

SimCity open source!

As someone with an urban planning background and an early addiction to computers (hence games), I played SimCity a lot. And when I say, a lot I mean a lot! I spend hours playing this excellent game, days, month. And the sequels just didnt do it for me.

So now the greatest game has become Open Source!

The original SimCity source code under the GNU General Public Library (GPL).

Yes.

Google Earth Flightsim

Some time ago I predicted that Google Earth will become the ultimate game engine. To quote, I said:

there is bound to come a (fly) game in Google Earth.Think of that, Google Earth as your browser (think place instead of a textbox as an entry point for your searches), Google Earth as the base for a CMS, Google Earth as a gaming platform.

And... indeed. There is now a flight game in Google Earth. See marco-za.blogspot.com.

It would be great. Google Earth as the Graphical User Interface of your Operating System, a multiplayer game engine, the base for searching data (the browser) and for ... life the universe and everything.
